Landscape Garden

This expansive landscape garden demonstrates how generous planting, material contrast and spatial sequencing can shape a refined outdoor experience. Although rural in setting, the design principles translate seamlessly to large villa plots and estate gardens in Dubai and the Middle East.

Landscape scale & Planting richness

The defining feature of this project is its lush and abundant planting. The landscape is structured using a rich mix of ornamental grasses, butterfly bushes (Buddleja) and multi-stemmed specimen trees. Together, these layers create depth, movement and seasonal variation. Planting guides circulation, frames long views and softens the expansive layout, resulting in a garden that feels immersive rather than open or exposed.

Material contrast & walking experience

A subtle dialogue between hardscape and semi-hardscape runs throughout the garden. Gravel paths are combined with stepping stones, allowing movement to feel informal yet intentional. Different gravel types were selected, including rounded stones that are comfortable underfoot, enhancing the tactile experience. This layered material approach balances practicality with a relaxed, landscape-driven aesthetic.

Integrated pool & movement

The swimming pool is fully integrated into the landscape rather than positioned as a separate element. Stepping stones extend through the pool, allowing movement across and along the water surface. This intervention transforms the pool into a spatial connector, blurring boundaries between garden zones and reinforcing the idea of water as part of the landscape sequence.

Terraces & long views

Terraces are carefully embedded within the planting, offering moments of rest without interrupting the garden’s natural flow. From these positions, wide views extend across the surrounding landscape, enhancing the sense of openness and calm. The combination of seating areas and expansive sightlines supports outdoor living that feels grounded, generous and closely connected to nature.
