Mediterranean Family Garden
This Mediterranean family garden translates a warm, relaxed outdoor lifestyle into a contemporary landscape design relevant to residential gardens in Dubai and the Middle East. By balancing geometry and softness, the garden creates a layered outdoor environment shaped by climate, movement and daily use.

Spatial structure & form
The irregular plot presented a spatial challenge, requiring a careful balance between structure and flow. Straight lines were combined with rounded forms to guide movement and define outdoor zones naturally. Through subtle contouring and clear geometry, the garden achieves spatial clarity while maintaining an organic rhythm — an approach well suited to private family gardens in warm-climate regions.
Pool, terrace & materiality
A generously positioned swimming pool forms the heart of the garden, located to capture sunlight throughout the day. The pool is softened by a wooden deck and rounded gravel surfaces, creating a tactile transition between water, landscape and architecture. This combination of materials enhances comfort, reduces visual rigidity and supports relaxed outdoor living in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern climates.

Planting & visual depth
Planting was designed with an organic structure, using Mediterranean species such as ornamental grasses, fig trees, cork oak and olive trees. These layers introduce depth, seasonal variation and sensory experience. An in-ground trampoline was subtly integrated within the planting, becoming part of the landscape rather than a separate element — visually calm, safer for children and fully embedded in the garden’s spatial rhythm.
Poolhouse & outdoor living
The poolhouse functions as a lounge, bar and outdoor kitchen, extending family life into the garden. A combination of stucco and timber reinforces the Mediterranean character while remaining contemporary. Positioned along natural walking routes, the poolhouse anchors the outdoor space and supports social use, relaxation and long summer evenings — a lifestyle increasingly sought after in Dubai and the wider region.
Although this garden was realised in Europe, the spatial principles, planting strategies and outdoor living concepts are directly applicable to residential gardens and villas in Dubai and the Middle East.
