Wellness Garden
This wellness garden is designed as a calm, immersive outdoor retreat, combining water, planting and architecture into a cohesive landscape concept. The spatial composition and planting strategy translate seamlessly to luxury villa gardens in Dubai and the Middle East, where privacy, comfort and atmosphere are essential.

Wellness as spatial concept
The garden is structured around a central swimming pool, complemented by a poolhouse with veranda, outdoor shower and jacuzzi. Together, these elements form a balanced wellness environment that supports relaxation throughout the day. The layout encourages slow movement and visual calm, reflecting the growing demand for private wellness gardens in residential projects across the UAE.
Planting structure & green contours
Large green planting volumes define the garden’s structure and atmosphere. Instead of traditional boxwood, Podocarpus macrophyllus was used — a sun-tolerant and climate-resilient alternative well suited to warm regions such as Dubai. Shaped into soft, cloud-like forms of approximately 90 cm in height, the planting introduces contour and depth, preventing the garden from reading as a flat plane.

Depth, privacy & sensory experience
Positioning dense greenery behind the swimming pool reinforces the sense of enclosure and tranquility associated with wellness spaces. The layered planting enhances privacy while creating a soothing green backdrop for water elements. Carefully controlled sightlines ensure that views remain calm and inward-focused, supporting a restorative outdoor experience that aligns with wellness-oriented garden design principles.
Detailing & long-term functionality
To ensure both visual refinement and practical maintenance, narrow strips of hardscape were introduced between planting and water elements. Subtle decking or paving around the pool prevents organic debris from entering the water, preserving clarity and comfort. This detail illustrates how thoughtful material transitions contribute to long-term usability — a key consideration for high-end wellness gardens in the Middle East.

While this wellness garden was realised in Europe, its planting strategy, spatial layering and wellness-focused design principles are directly applicable to villa gardens in Dubai and the wider Middle East.
